Can the monthly birth control pills stop your period all together?

My period stopped coming about 2 months ago, and I am not taking seasonale or even skipping through the 4th week of the regular packs. I am just taking regular packs. I have taken 3 different pregnancy tests in the past 3 months, and they all came up negative. Is this normal for some birth control pills? Can the monthly birth control pills stop your period all together?
Yep. I was on Loestrin 24 and my period disappeared. I did a pregnancy test (negative) and called my doctor after the 2nd month. They said that some pills work so well with your body to prevent ovulation and control your hormones that there is no bleeding during the 4th week. I would call your doctor to make sure but they told me that it was nothing to be worried about and a normal side effect that can happen. I went about 6 months with no period before I changed pills for a different reason. Can the monthly birth control pills stop your period all together?
it can happen that your period stops when you are on the pill. you should be fine. every woman reacts differently to the pill. if you are really worried then go and see your gyno and ask her about it.
How long have you been on the pill?

It will affect different people in different ways. my period is different every month. It has varied from (mildly) heavy to none at all.

What two body systems control the reflex action?

I know it is the nerveous system but what is the other one? What two body systems control the reflex action?
ummm.. i think only the nervous sys. What two body systems control the reflex action?
A reflex action is involuntary and almost instant movement in response to stimulus.[1] In most contexts, especially involving humans, a reflex action is mediated via the reflex arc (although this is not always true in other animals, or in more casual usage of the term 'reflex'.)

nerves and muscles.

the brain is not involved, most reflex arcs occur in the spine. The brain is only aware of the involuntry reflex after it has happened.

it cant be the endocrine system - imagine if you stood on a pin, and it took a week for the message to get to your brain!

a great example of a reflex arc is the cross extensor reflex. you stand on a pin, and the other leg will extend to take the weight off the foot with the pin in it. all of the communication happens in the bottom end of the spine, as it is quicker than to send the message to the brain and wait for a response

hope this helps!
Um, it's jut the nervous system as far as I know.

A reflex is simply a signal triggered by, say, a muscle which passes through a nerve, hits the spine and instead of going up to the brain travels back to the muscle thus triggering a quicker response.
The nervous system and the muscular system the nervous system because the message has to travel throught the nerves to the muscles and the muscular system because you have to move a muscle to have a reflex.

  • How did Portugal gain control of Brazil in the 17th Century?

If you can answer that question that would be a lot of help,

thanks! How did Portugal gain control of Brazil in the 17th Century?
It was a trading nation and it explored Africa, India, China and the Philippines, Their colonies, Brazil among them, were everywhere. They landed in Brazil in 1500, not in the 17th century.

What kind of birth control for breastfeeding moms?

I am nursing a 5 month old, and will be for at least another 7 months. What kind of birth control is safe to use while I am breastfeeding. I am not interested in condoms, diaphrams, or VCF. Thanks! What kind of birth control for breastfeeding moms?
Well the best answer to this question is condoms. But since you dont prefer condoms, you should talk to your physician about proper birth control methods. I am a nursing student about to take my boards and I dont believe that I' ve learned of any birth control that a nursing mother should use other than condoms. If I had to take a guess, it would be progesterone only pills. What kind of birth control for breastfeeding moms?
Don't count on breastfeeding alone to prevent pregnancy. But, a combination of breastfeeding and the rhythm method might be what you're looking for.
The ';mini-pill,'; progestin only, is given to breastfeeding moms. It's the kind of pill you have to take at the same time every day; a couple of hours late severely affects its usefulness.

I got a Copper-T IUD, and I'm very happy with it. No hormones, no fuss, no remembering to put it in. Lasts 10 years. (The hormone based ones last 1 year.) But a lot of insurance plans don't cover it; the device costs about $400. (Four hundred for 10 years' protection is a pretty good price.)

FAM, the Fertility Awareness Method, is also usable, but it requires that you pay a lot of attention to your body, and keep very good records.
In view of the options you've eliminated, the only safe method I can think of still remaining is ...abstinence! Good Luck! Debbi
Breast feeding itself is said to be a good birth control measure.

How important is the control arm to a car and how much is a fair price for the part and/or installation?

I have 95 civic and the control arm is pretty well rusted but only recently a mechancic told me i should change it and it was never mentioned beforeHow important is the control arm to a car and how much is a fair price for the part and/or installation?
Unless the control arm is integral with the lower ball joint and the lower ball joint is bad or there is a MASSIVE corrosion problem that has all but rusted the arm off of the car paint it if it bothers your mechanic. Or have someone you trust recomend a second mechanic to you to look and make sure! How important is the control arm to a car and how much is a fair price for the part and/or installation?
Hm mm I tend to wonder if the mechanic is being honest bec why wasn't it mentioned before. Plus their metal and will rust that doesn't mean their bad or worn out either. If it was bad it be bent or have play in the ends. Therefore if i was you for sure id have another mechanic look at it . Some shops will check it for free so why not phone around and see who offers a free front end inspection. Plus i might get another mechanic besides that to indeed double check .

Again i find it funny that rust would be mentioned , unless its roded right out. Plus if that part was gone you'd notice play in the front end , especially when crossing uneven terrain.

Roughly that part would be about 150.00 to 200.00 and the labour shouldn't really take longer then an hr to do but most shops would want 2 to 2.5 hrs labour to do it bec they go by book values. So i suggest you really phone around check even do it yourself auto wreckers bec you can get them cheap and still in good shape too. I always look for shops that will allow you to bring your own parts bec they usually are much more fair mechanics and cheaper. So if you got a used part it be about 40 or 50 bucks , 200 plus tax tops to install but if new you'd be looking at 400 or so.
It is very important though I would take it to a Honda dealer to ask if it needs replacing, they are the guys that would know.

This does not mean you have to use them to replace it and don't let them badger you in to booking it in. A good mechanic will have a quick look and give you a honest answer.
I agree with; *iller Pumpkin? A trusted Honda Dealer would be even better.

How long does it take to be hired for air traffic control?

im 24, enlisting in the air force for atc which is a 6 year commitment. I heard the faa doesnt hire after 31, which is cutting it close. Is this rule set in stone, or just a guideline? Also id like to hear from atc'ers on the reality of life in this profession. I know its a high stress job..ive heard working conditions arent great and employees arent treated well..please elaborateHow long does it take to be hired for air traffic control?
As a former military controller, you are not subject to the age limitation. You will note that this job announcement makes no mention of age:

    http://jobs.faa.gov/asap_detail.asp?vac_鈥?/a>

Unlike this announcement for CTI hires (works the same for off the street hires) which specifies the %26lt;31 limit:

http://jobs.faa.gov/asap_detail.asp?vac_鈥?/a>How long does it take to be hired for air traffic control?
it depends on how motivated you are at becoming a controler. tech school is about 18 weeks then after that its up to you and your trainer wherever you get stationed. depending on where you go the hours might suck or they might be nice, i got stationed where the tower is only open for about 12 hours a day (a training base) so i only work a 7 hour shift, which isnt bad. overall i guess in an average amount of time it should only take you about 10-13 months including tech school.
They make exceptions for women and minorities, as well as x military with ATC experience. You can also go to work for contract towers and such, instead of the FAA. Lockhell Martian is trying to obtain tower and center contracts, because they've done so well fukking up flight service, and knowing how our federal gubment works, I'm sure they'll get the contract.

Go do your Air Force thing and don't worry about the age thing. you're a chick, so you're golden. My wife was in AFSS 15 years, so I know the scoop.

P.S..the word ';wash out'; was used by a poster..well in the FAA the word ';grievence'; takes care of that.
It is a set in stone rule, however I believe the transition from Air Force to FAA is a quick one, you shouldn't have a problem. Although I went to school with a lot of controllers, I'm not one of them, so I can't speak to the working conditions.
I started my Air Traffic Control career with the air force and it was one of the best decisions of my life. When I enlisted in 2002 you had the option to only sign for four years which is what I did. The changed the rule a couple of years later because it takes some people almost two years before they get qualified and the Air Force was not getting enough of a return from the amount of time necessary it takes to train and the retainability of a four year enlistie. So they changed it to six years.

Yes you can get hired with the FAA if you are older then 31 as long as you are coming from the military and you have prior ATC experience. I don't remember the name of the rule but you can still get hired.

I am not going to lie to you it is going to be really difficult. After basic training you will go to Biloxi Mississippi for your tech-school training which is about six months. You will think that this is hard but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Just stick with it and study hard. Once you get your first base assignment after you graduate then your actual training will begin. Then you become an Air Traffic Control apprentice AKA a 3-level. You are going to hate life as a 3-level. You will learn what that means pretty quickly. It is when you are in training and you are pretty much worthless to your facility because you are not qualified to work in position by yourself and you have to be monitored my a qualified controller. You will get treated like garbage but if you are sharp, have a good attitude, and good at ATC then hopefully in a year or less you will get your qualification. I can't stress attitude enough. I have seen too many people get washed out who could do the job but had poor attitudes. ATC is as much a elite club, as a job. Once you get your qualification then you will officially be an Air Traffic Controller and you will be able to work in position by yourself. This means that your facility that you work in has deemed that you are safe enough to work under pressure and that you can get the job done. This is when you will fine tune your skills that you learned when you were in training. Then you will become a trainer and train others. To this point will be about two years down the line.

Right now I am a contractor in Afghanistan working at Kandahar International Airport. I have been here about a year and I will be heading back to the states to work for the FAA in Southern CA. I decided to become a contractor because of the pay cut that the FAA put on new controllers. I was just going to wait them out but I am ready to head back to the states. I have already turned down two jobs with the FAA but now I am going to go with them. If I can give you any advice it would be for the long term. Get your CTO (control tower operator license.) Meaning get qualified in a tower. I am a RADAR controller and i did not have the time to finish my qualifications for the tower before I got out of the AF. For contracting purposes when you get out there are contract towers all over the US and throughout the world but very few contract RADAR facilities. The only way to get a CTO is through the Air Force, FAA and I have also heard that there is a CTI school in Pennsylvania that offers a CTO but there is a three year waiting list.

I know that I am throwing a lot of information at you but get used to it. ATC is not an easy career choice. You should believe the roomers of what people say about it. If you go into it with that mind frame then you should be fine and hopefully not have too many surprises. Just do your best and work hard because if you don't... Then you will get washed out. There are a lot of people floating around the Air Force who are ATC washouts. I don't want to scare you but this is not a career for everybody.

Good luck and I hope for you the best! E mail me if you have any other questions.
I knew an ex military ATCer that started the AF about your age. He cut it close to the 31 year age rule, but got hired 3 months shy of his 31st. Some of the others are talking about the military hiring program. Yes it is much faster than CTI (if you consider time in school) and far faster than off the street, however just being military ATC doesn't wave the age restriction. I work with an ex AF controller who can't get the waiver at 44.

    I found this.

    http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/rele鈥?/a>

    ';To be eligible for hire under this policy, military controllers must have retired after 20 years of military Service and received either air traffic control specialist certification or a facility rating to FAA standards';

How do I get my puppy's biting and nipping under control?

I've tried everything I know how to get him not to bite or nip. Hes teething and he would rather chew on us than his teether toys. When we try to play all he wants to do it mouth my hand. I don't believe in physical punishment. I need to teach him that bitng it not okay. How do I get my puppy's biting and nipping under control?
Good for you, physical punishment is not the way to go. When your pup bites/nips right then say ouch, like you mean it and immediently, right that second, turn away from him. Do not talk to or look at him for a few minutes. Be consistant, do it every time, have other people that he has contact with do the same. Soon he will learn that biting/nipping is unacceptable. This is why pups should stay together as a family unit with mom till they are about three months old, they learn this from each other. One pup bites another to hard and the bitten pup yelps and walks away. That way they learn not to bite too hard. How do I get my puppy's biting and nipping under control?
I made a huge mistake in thinking that when my little Alfie was 7 weeks it was adorable and it didn't hurt! Well when his teeth actually come through it tore my hand to shreds, often drawing blood, Obviously, it was my own fault as i had taught him it was acceptable behaviour. Now i say ';NO'; in a stern voice and walk out the room. BITING= END OF FUSS/PLAYTIME. When you come back into the room, dont fuss him, ignore him to give him time to calm down and then pick him up when he's not paying you any attention. You are establishing yourself as leader then too.

I took my dog to puppy classes to teach him basic obedience and I found that when he is in a biting mood i turn to spending 5-10mins training him as this kind of distracts him. You can get treats that have like a mint filling in them too, I Got Alfie's from Pets At Home. The filling helps numb the gums so there should be no need to chew.

Hope this helps in some way, every dog is different and we only learn through experience. Good Luck! x
Try this, when he starts to bite you blow on his face and say ';stop'; or clap your hands and in a firm voice say ';NO, or Stop';. If that doesn't work, try getting a spray bottle filled with water and spray him when he gets overly playful and bites. Also give him one of his toys right after so that he can chew on that, and not your hand.
Don't hit him in the butt with a rolled up newspaper or slap his butt. I have read several articles on puppy chewing (I'm getting my first purebred Siberian husky puppy!) I have read many times you should take your hand and do a light nip at the scruff of their neck. Make sure the toys you have are small enough for a puppy to chew on. You can take a sock and tie it in a not and freeze it for a slightly bigger dog or take a baby chew toy and freeze it. Don't hurt the dog or deprive it of food that is very bad. Just let it know it's wrong by a little shake at the scruff of the neck that is what dogs do in the wild and to a puppy you are just another one in the pack. I am dominate over my dogs because I do the nothing in life is free tactic. When they are older teach your dog a simple trick (sit, shake, and lie down) and before they eat make them do a trick. Always eat first the leader of the pack always eats first. To let them go outside make them do a trick. The pack leader always leaves the home first. Never let the dog on furniture it makes them think they are equal to you. Always be at a higher place than your dog ( if they are on the floor then you should be in a chair). There are many tricks to see if your dog is about to let go of it's dominance these are called calming signs. Excessive yawning or the licking of lips is a calming sign. If your dog begins to sniff the area around him he is sending a calming sign. If your dogs eyes are dilated then your dog is very confident and is feeling dominate over you! Don't let that happen. Being dominate does not mean you beat your dog into submission. In fact the dog does not want to be dominate there is a lot of pressure on the pack leader to lead the pack.
DO NOT SPRAY HIM! It will make him fear water. We are having the same problem with our puppy and our vet told us to go to walmart and get one of those clicking things that people use to train their dogs and when she starts to bite us click it. After clicking it say NO! it has been working really good for us. The click is just to get her attention. You can also try yelping when he bites you that is how dogs tell other dogs that it hurts. He doesn't realize that he is biting you hard enough to hurt you. So you can yelp and tell him NO!. The yelping did not work for us and that is why we are doing the clicker. We bought it at walmart for $3. It is blue and has a yellow button on it that when you press it, it makes a clicking noise. Good luck!
    Over-act!

When he nips you, yell out or say ';ow!'; loudly, the dog will learn that what he does is bad, and will stop!!

But never do what the first poster said.... my old dog used to be hit with a rolled up newspaper when she was a puppy (not by us!) and for the rest of her life she was terrified of newspapers.
During teething stage hand over a hard-wood or plastic piece to ur puppy. It is common in children also. It may be due to vitamin deficiency. Dump with more vitalized food.
Have you bought him a bone or a pig ear because those taste really good for dogs and they allow them to have something to chew on.

    Hope I helped!!
When he bites or nips, tell him in a firm voice ';No!'; if you keep it up, the nipping/biting should stop.
rolled up newspaper. just a little pat on the butt when he bites. only way.

How can we make beneficial use of marble slurry to prevent and control the pollution created by it?

We all know about the bad effect marble slurry leaves on the environment around us.If people know about its beneficial uses there will be no slurry left to seep-in and get mixed with the ground water or get spread in the atmosphere by winds.Let us learn from the learned about it .Then we will educate people and make this world a much better place to live in.How can we make beneficial use of marble slurry to prevent and control the pollution created by it?
Marble slurry contains Calcium Carbonate and it is alkaline. Being alkaline it can be used for neutralizing the acidic solution. Wherever there is a acid slurry going to the waterway we can use this to neutralize it. May be we can filter it and the solids can be recycled to make cement. There should be several uses of it but it may be un economical now to do it, due to the easily availability of marble and the cost of it.How can we make beneficial use of marble slurry to prevent and control the pollution created by it?
It can be use for making moulded statues and white wash.
Are there any coal mines near you? The marble slurry would be useful for neutralizing the acid mine drainage.

  • Is it safe to skip a period by skipping the inactive birth control pills?

I'm supposed to start taking my inactive birth control pills tomorrow which will be the beginning of my period. Is it safe to go straight into another pack of active pills without having my period? Is it safe to skip a period by skipping the inactive birth control pills?
You really shouldn't do that. I did it once and it took forever to get back on track again. It is healthy to have a period as it cleans out your uterus. Is it safe to skip a period by skipping the inactive birth control pills?
Yes you can, you may get your period for a day, why not ask you doctor for seasoel, you only get you period 4e times a year.
YEAP!!!! That's fine. I used to do it when I had a special occasion coming up - or through summer so I could go swimming ect. My doctor use to say it was safe to do it up to 3 times in a row, but not to make it common practise because that's not what the pill is for and if it is done frequently (skipping inactive pills) it may make it difficult to become pregnant later on down the track!!!!

    Goodluck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not much help, but it does depend on if you are on Monophasic or Triphasic pills. It is definitely safe, but the directions on how to do it depends upon which type of pill you are on.
It is safe. My Dr. has said it's o.k. to do every once in awhile, Like if you are going on vacation etc. Just don't go too long, unless your Dr. says you can. I do know people who never take the inactive pills, but it's by Dr. orders.
Yes it is safe, i know some doctors that allow their patients to do this.. you can go for 3 months like this but then allow your body to have its period.. I also heard that during that week of your period, its very painful and heavy, so make sre you are ready for your worst periods ever!!!
    No.

The cycle is constructed to allow your natural hormonal levels to rise and fall which still blocking conception.

By skipping a period, you are not allow some hormones to ebb and you are allowing others to peak for too long. If you took it this way (NOT as directed) over a period of time, you could potentially raise your risk of breast and other cancers which are hormone-related.

There is an oral contraceptive which does allow you to have fewer menstrual periods a year. It is configured and dosed a bit differently. Ask your doctor if you can switch to that.

In the meantime- taker your prescription as directed. If you read the package insert, it will tell you more clearly WHY you are supposed to take it the way they tell you.
first of all why would you take INactive birth congtrol pills cause thats like pill adiction right there

What would a credit control job involve?

I've seen one advertised and wondered what is involved in credit control. This is for a small business. Is it to do with invoicing customers and chasing up invoices etc?

Thanks. What would a credit control job involve?
its making sure the invoices that have been sent out get paid - lots of talking on phones and chasing up queriesWhat would a credit control job involve?
it means determining how much credit you should give a customer based on their size and how quikcly they pay their invoices. i suppose you would need to make sure they pay on time, send reminders, try to make the payment terms as low as possible so your company gets their money quicker
You main work is to manage that credits given to customers are paid when they are due for payment. Things to do with debt collection.

The best place to answer these questions and get the help you need is Planned Parenthood. What are the birth control laws in maryland?
I think they are pretty wacky in Maryland.

I am positive that the school nurse can not give a child an aspirin for a headache, but I believe the nurse at one time could assist, or arrange for an underage schoolgirl under the age of 18 to obtain birth control without informing the parents.

How do you like that, you can't get an aspirin but how about some birth control? Your parents need not know.

How long does it take for the effects of a birth control pill to leave your system?

My husband and I want to start a family sometime in the next year or two. I have been on the pill for 10 years. I have been told by a few people that the effects of the pill takes a long time to leave a woman's system before she can conceive. My brother said a friend of his took 4 years to be able to have kids, and she was on the pill for several years.

I have thought of taking a non chemical means of birth control, such as contraceptive ring until we are ready. But when I confront my doctor, he says I have nothing to worry about, that the pill is fine. A big part of me is screaming at me to get off the pill.

Any thoughts? How long does it take for the effects of a birth control pill to leave your system?
My doctor told me that you want to wait 3 months after you stopped taking the pill before you start to try. I never heard of someone having to wait four years, maybe that person just wasn't ovulating correctlyHow long does it take for the effects of a birth control pill to leave your system?
I was told by my gyn that if one is consistent with takin the pill for many years, it can take upto a year to have it completely out of your system.
I think it took me about 6 months after I got off of the pill to get preg.

Your body is telling you to get off of the pill? I'd listen to it. Not just for a baby but for medical reasons. Your body knows more than you do.
I was on the pill for 6 years, I was off for 10 months before I got pregnant. And me and hubby ';practiced'; a lot!! LOL And I just got pregnant in October!!! Good luck!! It will all work out!!!
You are most likely not going to have too much problem (assuming you're under 35) getting back to normal within 3-6 months. This is the average.

However, if you're thinking of changing BC to something non-chemical, abandon the idea of the Nuva ring. That method is still chemical contraceptive - its just chemicals embedded in a plastic ring which is inserted into your vagina rather than absorbed through your bloodstream.

If you're looking for a decent non-hormonal method of BC till you're ready, consider using Lea's Shield. It a barrier method that fits inside the vagina. See the link below.

As an aside, when I went off the pill, it took me only 2 months to get pregnant, and I'd been on the pill for 5 years continuously.
A contraceptive ring still has hormones, so that's not a solution.

The pill has left your system after three months. That doesn't mean it's still effective up til that time: there are plenty of ';mom went off the pill last week and now she's pregnant'; babies out there. That's just how long it takes between your last pill and any detectable synthetic hormone to be left in your body. It's not generally believed that the residuum of the pill in your body will hurt any potential babies... but if you are a paranoid type, a barrier birth control method for a few months between going off the pill and ';trying'; might be good.

It sounds like your brother's friend may have diminished fertility, but it's not the pill's fault. It must have annoyed her to have wasted all that birth control!
it just depends on your body.. some women get pregnant right away and others it make take a little longer.

What kind of birth control is best for breastfeeding?

I am meeting with my obgyn next week to discuss my options. I have read that they recommend barrier only forms of birth control. I do not trust that method. I was using that method before and was told i couldn't conceive by my doctor and I still ended up pregnant.

I read that they recommend the mini pill or IUD? I have never tried those.

I really am afraid of how it would effect my ability to breastfeed.

If you breastfeed what form of birth control do you use and do you like it?What kind of birth control is best for breastfeeding?
Basically you can use anything BUT hormonal methods with estrogen. So no regular pills or patches or rings. But anything else is fine, and which one is 'best' depends on your preferences.

Barrier methods are a good option. If you are uncertain about the effectiveness, you can combine them. (Condom + foam or diaphragm is extremely effective. Vaginal spermicides alone are not so good.)

An IUD is good if you're wanting a long term method -- very effective, nothing to think about, but quite costly if you're planning on another baby within a year or two.

The mini-pill is good -- but does require that you take it at the same time each day -- less room for error than the combined pill. Even a few hours delay can result in ovulation. Other progestin only methods (Depo, Implanon) are also worth considering if you're worried about being unable to take the pill at the same time each day.

Finally, if you'll be breastfeeding exclusively, LAM (Lactational Amenhorrhea Method) is a good option -- 99% effective for the first 6 months or until you get a period or start supplementing (small amounts of solid foods at around 6 months are fine), whichever comes first. Once you are no longer eligible for the method, there is Natural Family Planning, or you could move on to any of the above-mentioned methods.

    (I used condoms while nursing.)

EDIT: If you are in a commited, monogomous relationship, IUDs are very safe. Most of the 'horror stories' are from older types that have been off the market for decades. What kind of birth control is best for breastfeeding?
well the IUD has had many horror stories behind it.

My doctor told me she does not recommend the IUD because if something was to go wrong, I may loose the ability to get pregnant again and I am young so she does not want that to happen.

I use the mini pill and a condom.

I take the mini pill on time every day and I am not pregnant. I started it at 6 weeks pp.
my ob put me on the depo provera shot (once every 3 mo) when my little girl was 4 wks. he assured me that it would not affect my ability to breast feed. dont rely on the bf as ur contraception. i had already gotten my period back by time she was 6 wks as did my mom when she had me. you never know when your cycle will resume.
Even though the mini pill is fine for most some women do have supply issues. I love the paraguard iud because it has no hormones, but also the most reliable. The mini pill isn't as reliable especially if your baby sleeps through the night.
If you absolutely can't get pregnant, use the minipill plus a barrier method. I don't know much about the IUD immediately after pregnancy, but my Mom and sister have had that for years and are happy about it.
if you're breastfeeding you can't use anything with hormones in it i was told by my gyno that the IUD is the best method if you don't want to think about it (like with condoms or a diaphram)

What type of birth control pills make your boobs get bigger?

should i ask for the ones with estrogen? What type of birth control pills make your boobs get bigger?
Most birth control pills have estrogen. Only one form does not, and it's called the ';mini-pill,'; usually only offered to breastfeeding women, or women with untolerable side effects on normal pills, since it's slightly less effective.

There aren't any that will make your boobs bigger. The only thing that will definitely make them bigger is unprotected sex, but then that goes along with that inconvenient baby thing.

You should not take 2 per day. Although it is safe, it will not make your boobs any bigger, so it's just a waste to take 2 per day. It doesn't make them any more effective. What type of birth control pills make your boobs get bigger?
    PILLEEEEESSSE
I guess you threw your common sense out the window.

I will not answer the ';boobs'; question.

With regards to the amount you should be taking, why go against what the directions says? No, you should not be taking birth control twice daily, it should only be once daily.
Are you serious? This is why parents need to talk to their children about contraceptives.

I forgot what they are called but its a little tube that doctors put in a girls arm and it acts as birth control for 3-5 years.

What are they called and how effective are they? What are those birth control things called that girls put in their arm?
Norplant I think. They're just as affective as any other birth control which I think is about 99.9%

What age do you have to be in California to take birth control pills?

I'm 15. I'm not planning on having sex or anything, but I just HATE having a period. I have the absolute worst cramps out of all of the females in my family, and I despise how it keeps me from doing things I love.

Also, if I decide to get off the pill as an adult, will it be harder to become pregnant? What age do you have to be in California to take birth control pills?
You can be any age, as long as you have a period.

Birth control pills don't affect your future fertility.

As far as modifying your period the way you want it - I don't know if your wishes will be necessarly granted, but this is something to be discussed with your doctor.

Is it cramps that bother you or the period itself? If it's cramps then I understand, sorry. If it's just the period itself that holds you from doing the things you love you should just get used to it rather than messing with your hormones. I felt the way you did when I was 15, but when I was 20 I got used to having a period and it no longer stopped me from doing things I loved. What age do you have to be in California to take birth control pills?
you can start it at any age as long as you have your period. and i understand where you are with hating the whole period thing cuz cramps kept me from going to school and stuff. but just remember that the pill does not stop your period it just makes it shorter and sometimes lighter and gets rid of cramps pretty much all together or at least it did for me. and no it wont make it harder for you to become pregnant. your cycle maybe off for a fews months but it wont make it harder to become pregnant
go to planned parenthood or your local health dept and get information about this....birth control is additional hormones and comes with its own set of problems many times....they can help guide you to an informed decision.

How healthy is it to skip the placebo week of birth control and start a brand new pack instead?

I have been on birth control for nearly 2 years. I have been skipping the placebo week for over a year now. Instead, I just start a new pack immediately, so I am always on the pill and don't have periods.

My friends always ask me if that's healthy or not. From what I know, the extra estrogen you take in birth control increases my risk of breast cancer. However, by not having periods, I am decreasing my risk of cervical cancer. Am I correct on this?

Also, I have told at least 3 doctors that I do this, and have not had a single one tell me that it is unhealthy to do so. Is this healthy to do for an extended length of time?

Thanks for your answers :)How healthy is it to skip the placebo week of birth control and start a brand new pack instead?
you can do it for 3 months at a time, i've read there's no reason we need to menstruate every month but u still have tissue from uterine lining that your body wants to get rid of so its good to have a period every 4 months..... the normal amount of hormones in the pill can help prevent cancers and stuff, u don't need extra, skipping periods can cause iron build up or clots so read about how to prevent it- there's a new one called seasonale that keeps u on schedule and have a period 4 times a yrHow healthy is it to skip the placebo week of birth control and start a brand new pack instead?
I've been on the pill for 10 years and have always skipped that week of pills. Of course, make sure you use another form of birth control that week. I don't see why it would be unhealthy. From what I know, those pills do nothing except keep you on your daily pill-taking routine. I worry about the negative longterm effects of taking the pills, especially since I've been on them for so long. But, my doctor tells me that it keeps me healthier. I guess there are pros and cons.

Oh, geez wait a minute. I just re-read your question and realized that not only do you skip the ';placebo'; week, but you start a new pack right away! No, no, no - don't do that! The pills are meant to keep your body on a 28-day cycle. Wow, I would ask your doctor again about this and make it really clear what you're doing. My periods are so light while I'm on the pill, they might as well be non-existent, so I'm happy with that result. Sorry, I should have read your question more closely!!
i have talked at length with my doctor about this. the doctor said that it is ok to skip the placebo pills for three months and then you should have a period. this way you are having three to four periods a year. by skipping them, you are building up all of the endometrial tissue, which causes a risk for endometriosis. however, in three to four months, you can't build enough to cause a problem.
You are not decreasing your risk of cervical cancer you are increasing it by taking to many hormones. You are protected the week you take the placebo.I dont believe a doctor told you this is healthy,it is quite unhealthy. If you dont want periods switch to the depo shot.It protects for 3 months and is more convient than the pill.
Doctors suggest you allow your body to menstrate at least 3 times per year. I would take the week off every 4 months.
That is so riduculously unhealthy. How has your body got a chance to rid itself of all the nasties, lining and general build up it normally would? It hasn't. Nature knows best, and trying to change ur body's natural cycle is never healthy. It might be convenient but it's so un-natural. The pill is not good for you no matter which way you look at it. If you have bad period try evening primrose oil or controlling the flow with Ponstan.
If you have a progestin-only pill, you may be OK, but most pills are estrogen/progestin combinations, and you may run an increased risk of endometrial hyperplasia and possibly even endometrial carcinoma. Best to have a withdrawal bleed every three or four months, anyway, just to be safe.
very bad, you will end up with cancer. stop it

  • What causes an anxiety disorder to develop, and how can I control it without the use of prescription drugs?

I've had an anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember. But it is gradually getting worse, to the point where the simplest things will cause me to have a panic attack. It's taking over my life. Every therapist I've ever tried seeing has always just given me prescription after prescription. I want to know if any of you have this problem- if so, how do you deal with it? How do you calm yourself down? How do you cope with it?What causes an anxiety disorder to develop, and how can I control it without the use of prescription drugs?
Ive had an anxiety disorder for a while as well, and I deal with it without prescription drugs.

Basically, to deal with my panic attacks and general anxiety I will do one of 3 things.

    1. If possible, I will take some time to sit alone and meditate, it really helps to clear your mind. I cannot suggest this technique more - it takes a while to get to the point where you can meditate easily, but it works better than any medication I've ever taken.

    2. Write/Talk out my fears at that time. I will write down or say out loud what is causing my anxiety, and the more I read or say them, the stupider they seem.

    3. Talk to someone about it. In the past I used to talk to my therapist about my issues, and it did really help, but now that I don't have health insurance, I talk to my girlfriend about it, and it really helps me out.

I hope these techniques can help you, they really help me.

I really dislike prescriptions and medications in general, I believe they cause more problems than they fix. What causes an anxiety disorder to develop, and how can I control it without the use of prescription drugs?
I have tried many psychiatric drugs which didn't work very well and if they did they had some horrible side effect. They do have group therapy at the clinic that treats me. including a group specifically for people with anxiety and depression, and it is led by a guy who an actual Master's degree from a legitimate school and a license from the board of behavioral health. They also do acupuncture, and--not at the clinic--bit in this city there is a woman Amy Weintraub and she does specialized yoga for depression and anxiety. I have seen therapists for this for 45 minutes out of a hour session teaching you meditation technique and when you want to discuss a problem they just say the can't solve your problems or make decisions for you. It is pretty much useless, but it works for some and I am sure you can find books on meditation at any bookstore..
When you get anxious, or panic, the body releases adrenalin. The adrenalin causes your body to overact ie the heart beat increases, you breath quicker etc , that in turn makes you panic more and then your body releases more adrenalin for fight or flight (which it is meant to do ) and then this makes you even more upset and you panic even more. The solution I found is to breathe into a paper bag (not plastic), and inhale your own carbondioxide. This slows down the increase in breathing and stops the cycle of panic frrom getting worse. It really works too.I found my panic attacks have virtually stopped altogether now.
There are certain personality traits we have that work together to create our anxiety disorders. We do not have a chemical imbalance or mental disorder. We just have a problem with the way we think. To gain control of your panic disorder, you have to educate yourself about it and learn what it is about YOU that is causing these symptoms to apear. If you go to anxietycompass.com, you will find a lot of information that will help explain things for you. Good luck!
You're not on the contraceptive pill are you? The pill made me go like that, it stopped when I stopped taking it. Some women can't handle the progesterone hormone the pill is based on. Just a thought anyway.
its very hard to control. I take xanax for it. It really calms you down.
Use an ANTI PANIC ATTACK breathing technique. Advice from a published psychiatrist on controlled breathing: (1.) Get a clock, or watch with a second timer. (2.) Practise for 5 minutes, 4 times daily, until proficient. (3.) Take a small breath in, and hold it, for 6 seconds. (4.) Think to yourself: ';RELAX';, just before breathing out. (5.) Try to feel a sense of releasing tension, as you breathe out. (6.) Breathe in for 3 seconds, then out, for 3 seconds. Try to make your breathing very smooth, and light, as you breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, or nose. (7.) For the next minute, continue to breathe in, and out, every 3 seconds. (8.) Go back to step 3, at the end of the minute, and proceed through to step 7, doing this for 5 minutes. Use this at the very first sign of a panic attack starting, or any time you feel anxious, or tense. Similar, but simpler advice, from a clinical psychologist is to breathe in to the count of 3: (one thousand one; one thousand two; one thousand three) each takes around a second to say to yourself, in your mind, and out to the count of 3. Also see http://deeplyrelax.com %26amp; www.deepsloweasy.com/html/intro.htm Note: the controlled breathing only helps with the symptoms, as do medications/herbal remedies. Address the underlying cause, which requires some form of therapy; see http://your-mental-health.weebly.com/ re anxiety, %26amp; pages H*, %26amp; I. Imagine that the cause of your panic; your anxieties, fears, your self doubts, self recriminations, all the agonizing ';I'm-so-Stupids';; every painful ';I-can't-do-it'; are huge raging, hurtful bulls snorting and charging at you. You see them coming at you and you hold out your red matador's cape at arms length and simply let them charge right by. Every time they come at you, hold out your arm with the red cape and let them rage and snort and go right on past. Some people recommend nettle tea, with a little honey. Others use Lavender tea, Lemon Balm, Chamomile, but use no milk or cream with herbal teas, or Valerian (caution: use for 3 weeks; maximum!).

Know how these affect you before driving, or doing anything dangerous, and it is far better to use the treatments, rather than relying on herbal remedies. Prior to using either of these methods, first sit comfortably, and take a deep breath. Then, without moving your head, move your eyes from the left, to the right, and back again, taking around a second to do so (say: ';a thousand and one';: this takes approximately a second).

How can I take control over holiday desserts when there are so many good things to eat?

I mean there will be three to four desserts that I will want to have but how do I control myself to only have one and not that much of it...I really can not eat too much sugar and I have no willpower!!!!How can I take control over holiday desserts when there are so many good things to eat?
Tell someone you are eating with to help monitor you, but not in a way that's embarrassing, should be a trusted one. Then try to drink glasses of water before you eat to fill you up, then eat your meal and go for the healthy foods too, then take one dessert then hopefully you will be eay too full to eat.How can I take control over holiday desserts when there are so many good things to eat?
Hey if you have been eating healthily and excercising consistently you deserve to splurge. Take a small sampling of each of your favorites! Just don't back of your exercise routine and get back on your normal eating track the next day.
Take a teaspoon of each, leave off the whipped cream. If you are diabetic and can't eat sugar make sure you have a sugar substitute dessert you can eat.

Otherwise make that a level teaspoon.

If you deny yourself all the time you will have a great figure and a lousy disposition.
do not go where they serve it. I do not understand why holidays mean eating. It can mean doing something fun. Go with some friends, or someone close to you somewhere and enjoy yourselves - skating rink, horse riding, or swimming pool, whatever.
Bring a healthy dessert (like fruit) with you when you attend holiday parties so you'll always have something that you're able to eat while you're there. This helps to not feel awkward or be pressured into eating something unhealthy.
During the holidays and Thanksgiving in particular, you don't have to have your mind on calories and losing weight all the time but there are simple steps you can take like eating a salad before the main meal, not having leftovers and moderating the amount of food you eat that will help in reducing overall calories.

How long does it take your body to adjust to birth control?

I've been taking Yasmin for about 2 weeks, and I've been extremely emotional, irritable and I've had some weight gain. I don't usually experience any PMS symptoms before my period except some occasional bloating so these aren't things I'm used to. Will these eventually go away, and will I be able to shed the weight I've put on? I'm usually able to lose weight quickly but since I noticed weight gain I haven't been able to lose it at all, in fact I put more on.How long does it take your body to adjust to birth control?
I didn't adjust to my birth control until about 4 months in. Try to change your diet and exercise to keep the weight off.How long does it take your body to adjust to birth control?
Well typically they tell you to expect to gain 10lbs when you start taking birth control, it is a possibility. However, I took Yaz and I had a TERRIBLE time with it. My doctor said to give it three months, bodies usually adjust to it within this amount of time, but mine did not. I got terrible headaches had the weight gain was extremely irritable and felt bloated for the whole three months. My doctor then switched me to Ortho tri cyclen lo and all of that went away and I feel so much better now! I would call your doctor and tell them what you're experiencing and ask them what they think you should do. If you're not happy be sure you switch because not all pills have those side effects! Good Luck!!!
Most doctors will say about 3 to 4 months for your body to adjust to the hormone levels. If you're still having these types of problems by then, you should go back to the doctor and switch birth control. I've heard that a lot of people have issues with Yasmin, but when placed on Yaz, have a better time. If it keeps up, let your doctor know. Good luck :)
Birth control has different side affects and they're different to many ppl. I advise you to switch ur birth control to a different kind since ur having so many problems

What is the typically procedure in getting a prescription for birth control?

I have a doctors appointment later to get a prescription for birth control and I am very nervous. What is the rountine procedure? What kind of questions do they ask, I have heard you need a pap test beforehand, is this true? Lastly how long do I need to reframe from sex to insure I won't become pregnant? What is the typically procedure in getting a prescription for birth control?
go to a doctor, get a physical (internal), and they just ask questions like are you pregnant, are you having sex with numerous partners, blah blah blahWhat is the typically procedure in getting a prescription for birth control?
It depends on the type of birth control. The Depo shot will start working as soon as it gets into your system. The pills you should wait a month to start having sex again. They will do a pap before and also give you a pregnancy test. They will probably draw blood or prick your finger. They will ask all sorts of questions like when your last period was, how many you are having sex with right now, when was the last time you had sex, have you had sex with a female or any other type of sex other than vaginal, they will ask you all sorts of personal questions. Are you using protection. And of course, and illnesses you may have or your family history of illnesses. It is uncomfortable, but it is a have to thing. And be sure to answer them honestly. They will go over everything you need to know. They will do the pap and they will do a breast exam. There is a certain time to begin taking them, and they will let you know about all of this. If you are taking antibiotics, refrain from sex as well bc this will counter react with the birth control and could cause you to become pregnant if not using protection.
the will do a pap smear. probably a std blood test. and ask u about your protection u are using now. and then suggest the bestmethod for you. or pill for you.

What types of symptoms did you experience when you went off birth control pills?

I'm just wondering what is normal and what isn't. I just want to compare mine to others. Like what kind of period did you get? Did your cycle go back to normal? What types of symptoms did you experience when you went off birth control pills?
It took a while but I eventually returned to my own body's normal cycle (normal for me is out of whack). Took a month or so maybe. My mood swings lessened and the zits lessened to.

It depends on the type of birth control pills you were on, how well it reacted with your body, how long you were on it and what is normal for you. If your cycle was abnormal to begin with, it will eventually return to that. It may take a while though.

You may find that your menstrual cramps change, usually they will worsen off the pill. Because of the sudden change in hormones from quitting the pill, you may notice strange spotting (sort of off and on or for a week or more straight), breast tenderness, change in mood affect, change in the feel of your skin and much more.

Give yourself a few weeks to adjust. If you're really alarmed by anything, especially heavy bleeding for more than a week, check with your doctor about it. Quitting the pill can put your body through the ringer, so to speak, but its a wise choice in my opinion. What types of symptoms did you experience when you went off birth control pills?
your cycle doesnt go back to normal for a few months. You might experience more bleeding than normal. Your mood might also change(become emotional, angry, cramps, maybe even headaches). I hope ive helped
NOT REALLY I GOT SO SICK SO I STOPPED TAKING THEM AND GOT AN IUD
My cycle stayed normal - I've been off of the pill for 16 months and still run like clockwork every 28 days. But all the horrible symptoms - sore breasts, heavy flow, cramps, SUPER tired the day before - all came back.

  • What does the taper control on hair clipper do?

I am wondering if it would allow me to adjust the length of the attachment combs. I am looking for hair clippers that can cut 3mm length, but most of the hair clippers I see comes with 1/8'; attachment (about 4mm) or larger. What does the taper control on hair clipper do?
You are absolutely right! try starting out with the blade opened up (meaning the ';taper control'; is wide open.) Also you don't have to use the clippers flat against someones head, you can do the ';clipper over comb'; technique. This means that you will comb up the hair to cut and swipe the clipper blade over the comb. After a lot of practice you can cut the hair at any length and blend it in without using a clipper guard at all. If all else fails, come see me! I have fixed all sorts of home jobs... ha ha.What does the taper control on hair clipper do?
this allows you to cut even when trying to blend the hair in so it wont look like a mismatch in length.

What will happen if my gf took plan B and birth control 2 weeks pregnet?

My gf and I had unprotected sex hundre of times, she got prego, and we started planning are future. 2 months into her pregancy she had a miscarrige. so its been 2 weeks since then and we continued to have sex unprotected sex and has yet to have her period. Yesterday she started taking birth control and also a plan B. but she thinks she prego again cause she having the cravinings again. What will happen if my gf took plan B and birth control 2 weeks pregnet?
plan be is only effective within the first 72 hours of havin unprotected sex. birth control hasn't been proven to do anything during pregnancy. and after a miscarriage its very easy to get pregnant again because everything is open and still very fertile down there so yes she is probably pregnant again and i would suggest that u go see a doc soon because i dont kno the effects of plan b during early pregnancy. hope everything works out for u:) hope i helped. and please vote for a best answerWhat will happen if my gf took plan B and birth control 2 weeks pregnet?
If she was already pregnant the Plan B will not do anything. It's good that she is taking birth control again but you need to think ahead next time. I know condoms aren't the best feeling thing in the world but it's better than worrying about a baby on the way. Also, not to say anything bad about either of you but this is from my personal experience. I was with a guy I loved for 3 years and he was the nicest most honest guy ever and when we broke up I found out he cheated on me with at least 3 girls. I was so happy I made im wear a condom the whole 3 years because who knows what I could have caught. You just never know about the other person and you could even have something and not know for a year or more. It's always good to play safe at least until you are ready to make a commitment.
She needs to close her legs. 2 weeks after a miscarriage and you guys are going at it again. It will take longer than 2 weeks for signs, but are you both 100% she had a miscarriage? Because if it was a mistake and she never lost the baby, the plan B and birth control can have some serious effects if anything is actually in there.
I dont know why but I wanna yell at you. Beat it TROLL! Learn to spell!

Can i start birth control even though i dont have my period at the moment?

i'm late and i think its because i was really stressed last week. there's no way im pregnant. and if i do start will i get my period? Can i start birth control even though i dont have my period at the moment?
I started taking mine as soon as I got them. I wasn't on my period either. I don't think you'll get your period if you begin taking them until, of course, you get to your sugar pills. Of course, it's ultimately up to your doctor whether or not you can start right now, especially because you're waiting on a period already. Can i start birth control even though i dont have my period at the moment?
No, I dont think you should.

What are the odds of getting pregnant if you miss two birth control pills in a row ?

You hear that 5% of women get pregnant on the pill. What are the odds of getting pregnant if you miss two pills in a row and have unprotected sex? Are they the same of not beening on any birth control ,or is it less? What are the odds of getting pregnant if you miss two birth control pills in a row ?
It'll be less than not having any protection, because the medication will be in your system, but don't depend on it. Use protection, like the directions with your pills say. What are the odds of getting pregnant if you miss two birth control pills in a row ?
I believe after that point it doesn't really matter. So your odds of getting pregnant are probably almost normal after missing two pills. It takes a week for the pill to kick in and make pregancy near impossible taking it every day.
un pretty high, the second you stop taking birth control your pretty much screwed especially if your not using protection
It's about the same as not using any birth control, so use protection. Wait until you get your period and then start a new pack.

We lost our remote control a few years ago. Now we can only get a few channels. The menu button on the Tv does not control the channels. How do you program your TV if you lost your remote control?

if it does not have the buttons on the front ( or side) you cant, contact the manufacturers they will be able to source a remote for even the oldest model !
My remote just stopped working one day. I got another remote, but it doesn't work either. So now I have to actually get up to do anything to the boobtube. :)

If you can't get a universal remote to work, and the menu buttons don't have a add channel or auto program feature then you, like me are out of luck. It sounds like we both need to buy a new tv.

Most tv remotes don't have universal options, most av remotes have them though.

So maybe if you go the other route it will work!

Try programming the stereo remote to the tv.

  • Electric Kitchen Range How does the knobs for the burners control the electric to the burner element?

AC being unlike DC I would like to understand what is going on when I move the knob on my kitchen range to control the burner temp. With DC something like this would be to use resistance to control the burner but this is AC.Electric Kitchen Range How does the knobs for the burners control the electric to the burner element?
It is the same the burner it a big resister and when you turn the knob it controls how much voltage goes through it and how much heat is given off.Electric Kitchen Range How does the knobs for the burners control the electric to the burner element?
It is a thermostat. Turns the burner on and off to control temperature. If you get something barely simmering you can actually see the heat coming and going. And, on some ranges at least, you can even hear an audible click when it turns on or off.

    Bert
It depends on the stove. On all of the exposed elements (pan sits directly on them) that I have seen the knob controls how much voltage and thus current and thus the heat. However, on my new flat top electric stove where the element is embedded in the top, the burner cycles on and off, so there the knob is controlling the time that current is flowing and thus the heat.
The element or burner is the resistance. It's the level of resistance is what produces the heat. You cannot change that so the only way you can control the amount of heat coming from the burner is to switch the power off and on. The knob does that by changing the length of time the power is on or off to the burner. If the knob is turned to HIGH the power is switched on continuously and as you turn it towards LOW, the length of time the power is delivered to the burner is reduced. The knob is just a timer, switching off and on at different intervals.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between birth control side effects and pregnancy?

My fiancee is on the pill that give her a period every 2 to 3 month and she started it either last week of september or the first week of october and now shes starting to feel sick. I looked up her symptoms and when I looked up pregnancy signs it sounded like what my fiancee had. Then I looked up birth control side effects and it sounded like the same thing. Could anyone help me tell the difference?Does anyone know how to tell the difference between birth control side effects and pregnancy?
birth control can deceive the body into thinking that it is pregnant. i complained to my mom (a nurse) about it the first time i took it so she told me that it fools the body into thinking you are pregnant. if she has morning sickness then she's pregnant.Does anyone know how to tell the difference between birth control side effects and pregnancy?
You'll know the difference after she pees on that magic stick.
Take an at home pregnancy test! I got morning sickness from Depo Provera and I wasn't pregnant.

How can you control the start-up applications in Windows XP?

There are all sorts of processes slowing down my PC as I try to boot it up. I checked control panel and task manager (although not too thoroughly) to see if there were some program, wizard, or window to control these pesky applications. How can I stop certain programs from opening? How can you control the start-up applications in Windows XP?
Go to Start, click Run, type msconfig, press enter. you can disable programs that you don't want to run on startupHow can you control the start-up applications in Windows XP?
I partially agree with Evan's answer. Although, if there is a program running in the background and you don't want the program on your computer at all, you should just uninstall it. Go to the control panel and add/remove programs (programs and features in vista). Some programs that want to start up with windows simply put a shortcut or an executable in the startup folder in the start menu%26gt;programs. Deleting the exe/shortcut from the folder may produce the same result as msconfig. I an mentioning that because msconfig is a little more advanced that deleting shortcuts. Also, if you have a program that you want to run with startup and isn't you can make a shortcut in the startup folder. I hope this information helps.
You can run msconfig, but discovering which applications aren't really needed is trial-and-error. For starters, some applications such as Acrobat Reader, Quicktime, RealPlayer and other multi-media programs like to have ';quick-start'; programs running. Usually, they're not needed, but the best way of deactivating them is almost always from within their own user interfaces. They know exactly how to turn themselves off cleanly and safely. Turning them off with msconfig can cause strange problems.

Hewlett-Packard also likes to provide a ';Total Care Advisor'; or ';HP Center'; toolbar that's quite safe to deactivate.

In any case, here's how to get to msconfig:

    1. Click on the Start-%26gt;Run menu item.

    2. In the Run text box, type in msconfig, then press Enter.

    3. In MsConfig, click the Startup tab.

    4. Uncheck the checkboxes next to items you want to turn off. I usually find it safer to turn off items near the bottom of the list than at the top. Ones at the top tend to be necessary for obscure functions.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Accept the reboot option.

On the next reboot you'll get a message about your configuration having changed. In fact, if you just click OK, you'll get this message after every reboot, however, if you click the checkbox before clicking OK, the message won't come up again unless and until you make another msconfig change.

    Hope that helps.
Startup entries are stored in registry to manually edit them

Goto %26gt; Run %26gt; type ';msconfig'; (with quotes) %26gt; startup (tab)

U can use 3rd party tool by which u can get detail of startup entries and easily disable them.

    Startup Control Panel

    http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

Note: remember that don't remove any entries which u don't know bcoz it can mess with ur OS.
If you want the changes to apply to all profiles, you can either do it in each one, or do it once in safe mode. On startup, press F12 when the computer brand comes on screen. Then start in Safe Mode. Then follow all the steps that Evan said, only under the administrator profile.
Download Uniblue Power Suite, the Performance section includes a program that keeps programs from opening when Windows XP is starting up. You can find the software in isohunt.con as torrent. If you need help, email through this yahoo thing.
You may try Registry Easy .

It can optimize your PC start up.

How do birth control pills work exactly?

I know nothing about them really..

How do they affect the body? How do you use them?

Any information on them would be greatly appreciated, thanks! How do birth control pills work exactly?
Birth control pills are a synthetic form of the hormones progesterone and estrogen. They prevent ovulation by maintaining more consistent hormone levels. Without a peak in estrogen, then, the ovary doesn't get the signal to release an egg. No egg means no possibility for fertilization and pregnancy. They also thicken cervical mucus so the sperm cannot reach the egg, and make the lining of the uterus unreceptive to the implantation of a fertilized egg.

Some common minor side effects of birth control pills can include some mild nausea when first starting birth control pills, spotting or breakthrough bleeding, breast tenderness, mood changes, decreased sex drive, weight gain, cervical changes and vaginal discharge.

Some rare but serious side effects can include blood clots, abdominal pain, chest pain (also shortness of breath), headaches (especially those that are new, severe, or associated with persistent dizziness, difficulty speaking, fainting, numbness or weakness in extremities), eye problems (blurred vision or loss of vision), severe leg pain (and/or redness and swelling in the calf or thigh), high blood pressure, liver tumors, breast cancer risk or cervical cancer risk.

When you use start taking birth control pills and are having sex, that it will usually take 7 days for the pill to become effective at preventing pregnancy. You will need to use a backup/second method of contraception during these 7 days (such as condoms). Keep in mind that birth control pills offer no protection from acquiring STI's/STD鈥檚.

Be aware that your first and last active pills are the most important pills in your pack. Being late starting your next pack or forgetting your last active pill will lengthen the time off the active pills. Lengthening this pill-free interval can allow your body to ovulate. Try to plan carefully when you need to start or purchase your next pack. Remember your pills when you go away for weekends or vacations.

To help you remember to take your pill every day, it is useful to link taking your pill with some daily activity like brushing your teeth or eating a certain meal. Some women set a watch/mobile alarm to go off as a reminder. Each morning check your pack to make sure you took yesterday's pill.

I would recommend that if you are thinking of starting to take the pill that you discuss it with your doctor, he/she will best be able to advise which type/brand of the pill will be suitable for you and discuss with you any side effects you might experience if starting birth control pills.

Good luck :)How do birth control pills work exactly?
oo, this is kind of a touchy subject.

o.k. the basics is hormones packed in a pill. When taken, the hormones are released to the brain which stops an egg forming being released. So if the sperm doesn't meet up with egg, then no pregnancy happens

Ask your clinician, they'll prescribe something for you, it's a pill that is taken everyday for a month.

That's just the basics, if you need a better description, try this site:

    http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/contraception/contraception_birth.html

    or this one:

    www.teenwire.com
As a very short description, they mess around with you're hormones and ';trick'; you're body into thinking it's pregnant. They are just pills that you take. When you are on the (usually pink) pills, you do not have you're period. When you are on the white pills you have you're period. There are about 4 white pills. Birth control is more affective than condoms, though I reccommend using both.

Did you get pregnant right away after getting off birth control?

I've had Mirena in since the end of July last year and am making an appointment with my doctor to have it removed. My husband and I are planning on TTC this month(yay!!).

For those of you who have used Mirena(or any method, really) how long did it take you to become pregnant after removing/getting off it?Did you get pregnant right away after getting off birth control?
I had been on birth control for 3 years. I stopped taking my birth control the beginning of December and found out on December 27th that I was pregnant.

    Baby dust too you!!! :-)

My LO is only 6 months old and I am already thinking about another one. But then I remeber how sleep deprived I am and I quickly snap out of it.Did you get pregnant right away after getting off birth control?
Awe! That's great hun! Well I know it can take a while to get pregnant once you stop taking birth control if you have been on it for more than 10 months. Everyone is different so it is hard to say what can happen. I know when my cousin was trying to conceive her second baby she stopped taking birth control and then after two months of trying she got pregnant. So maybe it will be easy for you. I have heard that for some women it is harder to conceive your second child. I don't know why and I know that may seem weird but sometimes I just think its a myth. Well anyways, I wish you the best and good luck! Lots of baby dust for you.

By the way, I can't believe Noah is almost a one year old. It seems just like the other day he was a newborn. Wow, time does fly fast.
I have been off Mirena for almost 2 months. I had some odd bleeding on and off since the removal, just had my first regular period since removal, so I am considering this month our first real month at TTC. At this point we are just kinda at the, if it happens it happens. We want another, but we don't want to stress about trying super hard. I'll let ya know if anything happens.

Baby dust to you! Its exciting knowing that there is a chance of becoming pregnant again, I love the feeling.
I had an IUD for 7 years and after I had that removed I went on birth control for a couple of months (vacation was comming up and I didnt want to be pregnant for it :) 3 weeks after I stopped taking the pill...I was pregnant, unfortunately it was ectopic, but we are trying again next month Baby dust to us!!
the day after I stopped my Nuva-ring, I became pregnant and 2 months after coming off the depo shot, I got pregnant. They say it takes a year but to get out of your body but I think it just depends on your own body. If you got pregnant easy the first time, you might have no problem gettting pregnant this time around. Good luck to you!!!!!!
I don't have advice as I don't use birth control but wanted to say Good Luck! I am amazed that you are ready, Elyse is a week older than Noah and I can't imagine being pregnant now. Maybe once she starts sleeping through the night (if that ever happens, lol!).
I was taking a pill- ';othro...something or another'; 6 years ago, and right after I finished taking it, I got pregnant with my first son- less than 2 months! I have heard many personal stories of people getting pregnant right after they discontinue use of birth control.

    Good luck!! :)
*Sprinkles Baby Dust your way* Good Luck!!!

Well I used the good ol fashion pill. So we all know how that will work. As soon as I ran out, within that week I became pregnant. (medical and pills ran out at same time, 6 months PP) I was 4 days late on my period and just knew.
I was on Ortho-Tricyclen Lo for about a year, and I got pregnant 6 months after I stopped taking it. I'm not sure about Mirena, but I know on the pill it can take awhile.

    Good luck TTC! =)
I was using the ring. Took it out, and I swear I got pregnant that day. Ok, maybe 3 days later. Ridiculous right? But true story.
I had mine taken out and was pregnant two months later. I did miscarry, but was pregnant again 4 months after that! Good luck!
I was on the pill for 5 years and I could not get preggo for 1 year 1 month.
I was on the pill for 8 years when my fiance and i decided to concieve, and we got pregnant on my thrid cycle!!

best of luck hun with TTC.

How do you control your anger while playing video games?

    For example:

You're playing Call of Duty and a player from the other team throws a random grenade and kills you. You respawn. Right when you spawn a sniper from the other team kills you.

    Basically its bullshit.

At this point you want to throw your controller, but controllers from Xbox 360's and PS3's cost too much money to break, so how do you control your anger? How do you control your anger while playing video games?
I've broken 2 controllers because I had got angry playing games, I soon learnt that getting angry over computer games isn't worth it.

You should add some 'nice' games into your collection. I play Little Big Planet, it's good, you can help other players complete levels in co-op mode and share things with each other. How do you control your anger while playing video games?
What I do is go into a empty room or a room which it is okay to throw things around hard antry to break a bouncy ball. Its bloody hard to break one and you just smack it around the room as hard as possible TRYING to break it. Also it would be better if the room is sound-proof so you can scream and swear like hell. Lol its just what I do.
I get angry too when playing games, especially FPS like Counter-Strike, Call of Duty etc. I have not yet found a way. Basically what I do is yell ';F THIS'; then turn the system off angrily or exit the game and just go lay down and then go do something else. Then try again later.
Hahahahaha! Same thing happens to me, as soon as i re-spawn one guy shoots me with a LMG and then he kills me, i was like WTF!!!!!, what i recommend is when that happens take a good and deep breath, a kill that Son Of A Fruit
you have an anger problem if you want to throw your controller. stop playing those games, instead play games with fluffy kittens that you have to brush and feed, it will be less stressful.
You don't need to throw your control down just leave the game for a while.
just try again after it and pwn that sniper right in the face (they don't move alot so free target practise if you find him)
Scream. Scream like a banshee, even if it wakes up everyone else in the house.

How can I control my anger when it comes to my insane grandmother?

I live with my grandmother who has alzheimer's and dementia. She goes off on me alot and annoys me with hopes to make me mad. She thinks she's five or so, and I'm 17. I know I should know already how to control my temper with everything and everyone, but sometimes it seems so hard. I would never do anything to harm her, but sometimes I just wish I could put her in a nursing home, but there is no way I could ever afford that. How can I control my anger when it comes to my insane grandmother?
It is a human nature to have your tempers for the fact that whatever amount of understanding you want to give a room you have your own circumstances as well which changes your mood and could get irritated. Your grandma is out of a normal situation and the way she behaves is not her choice but absolutely due to her condition. You are the one in good mind so just try to tolerate as much as you can and be inspired by the thought that the care and patience you will show to her will be returned back to you when you needed later in the future.( I do not hope that you will be in such situation when you will be old but we do not know what we will be,right?) Anyway,be inspired by the saying that:';The bravest man in the world is someone who conquers his anger';.How can I control my anger when it comes to my insane grandmother?

Is she your main caretaker? Because if you're living alone with her (god forbid your parents are dead), she has to be mentally stable to care for you. You're a minor. You're supposed to be taken care of, not taking care of your grandma. I'd call social services. But then you'd probably be put in a foster home. But by the time you got a foster family, you'd be like 19, so you could just move out on your own. I don't know how I can help, call social services. If you're living with her and your parents, then tell your parents to put her in a home.
YOU ARE IN A VERY DIFFICULT POSITION. DO YOU NOT HAVE ANYONE TO HELP WITH HER? I KNOW THIS SOUNDS TRITE BUT TRY TO BE KIND AND PATIENT. AND TRY TO FIND A WAY TO GET A BREAK FROM IT WHEN YOU CAN. GOOD LUCK.
    hey sweetie,

you have a lot on your plate. i would like to suggest getting on the internet or going through the doctor who sees her and getting information on groups that meet for the caretakers of such ppl. it sounds scary i know but there are other ppl who deal with the same thing and they can help give you ideas on how to handle situations. like survivors of sucicide have many groups to help them cope, so do adult children of alcoholics and there is alanon for the family and friends of alcoholics. there are also groups where ppl meet who take care of or are in direct contact with ppl who have dementia and alzheimer's

as far as already knowing how to control you temper, how the h#@* could you? anger is an emotion that covers up deeper emotions. if you are angry, try to look beyond the anger, deeper into the young person inside who is broken hearted b/c one of the ppl she loves and depends on can't take care of herself, b/c all of a sudden you must reverse roles and become the caretaker and its just not fair. (and by the way, it is OK to feel this way, you didn't ask for this to happen to your gramma, it isn't your fault and you are struggling just to manage yourself)

i pray that you find comfort in knowing that God put you here, now to care for your gramma, and even though you get angry and hurt, He believes you are the best person to do this.

if you ever want to chat, email me

You are so young to be going through something like this. Are there any other adults in your household?

call 866.232.8484. this is to the Alzheimer's Association.

You need to do a Google search for the Alzheimer's association in your state. You need to get into a support group. Also, they have a toll free hotline 24/7 that you can call and talk to someone and they can offer you advice
unfortunatly there is not much to do she is just going down hill which is depressing in and of itself to see a great person be affected so... Best thing to do is remember she cant help herself and to show her that you care for her....
She isn't doing it on purpose. She's not trying to get you angry. It's not deliberate. Imagine living in a world where everything is strange and new and you can't really understand what's going on. It's terrifying for AD patients. Everything we take for granted, they haven't got anymore. If you can't find compassion in your heart for your grandmother then take a walk until you simmer down.
Understand that she is sick with alzheimers and dementia, understand that is what is causing her to behave like she is. Also, ask yourself, did she act like this before when you were a little kid? Give her a break, she's not going to be around much longer. Try to cope with it and understand that most of it is not personal towards you. When she's gone she'll be gone forever, remember that.
When you start to get upset you need to remember that this isn't her. She wouldn't act this way normally. It is the alzheimer's and dementia. She cannot controll what is happening and wouldn't want to be acting this way herself.
a little love and understanding is what your grandma needs......
If she has Alzheimer's, you may have no choice but to put her in one. Eventually, the disease will make it to hard for you to take care of her. I would check with the county health dept. on this one or one of those types of agencies. My friend's father had it and they eventually had to put him in a home. But they put his house and other assets in the daughter's name so the home could not take them away from the mother. They got the fee paid by some county dept.
    put her in oldage home.......
I'm sorry. This is a really hard one...just remember that she has probably had a hard life and how bad would it suck not to even remember the best parts of your life and be subject to the care of others (who you torment and probably don't remember). I would suggest contacted your local Alzheimer's support group...they often do free counseling and I would suggest that YOU get hooked up with them. It is really frustrating when you just want someone to function and they can't.
Hey, you're doing great, so please stay positive. Can I suggest a very crazy thing? Take a glass of water and speak very nice and peaceful things to it and ask it to remind your grandma who she is. Also, even if it's a little water, see if you can't ask her to speak to the water and say, Peace, Peace, Peace (or whatever you need for her to feel at that time - now don't get any rotten ideas, either!) and then ask her to drink it. Especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night. All Alzheimer's victims or potential victims and people who want to prevent this remember this formula. The best thing to say to the water is, ';May God forgive all the sins of all believers in the hereafter.'; For you, you could ask the water to help you to maintain forebearance and patience. When Gran's in a better mood give her a little cuddle, too.

Sounds mad, but I don't think it's so mad.
breeze 3 times, with deep inhalations.

    then count to 10

    and breeze 3 times again

    it'll help a little
Stick her in the oven! Muahahahah!
    Hey Cool It

    Like You Said

    She Is Your Grandmother

    Soo Relax

    She Is Old Rite

    Be Patience

    Take Care

    And Chill
listen I'm 17 too and I lived with my grandmother for about 2 months with her until she died about 2 1/2 months ago because of emphysema.. anyway she made me mad sometimes because she was mad at everything because of stress and the fact that 89 year olds don't have much patience. but she was one of the most precious people I ever knew and will ever know she was my rock, she paid for my school tuition and did everything she could for me because she loved me, but she did things that made me mad too like I wanted to stay out late on my prom night but she wouldn't have it and I was mad but it turns out she made one of my favorite memories with her I wont tell you because its personal but because I would have to act it out in person.. but anyway my point is don't worry about stuff like this, enjoy her quirks and forgetfulness(Alzheimer's) If she makes you mad just remember it could end tomorrow. So love her and give all the hugs in the world because God knows I don't wish I could have another prom night I wish I could have another day with my Grandmother.
This would be a difficult situation for anyone take a deep breath when things get bad and remember how much you care for her ,and then think that could be you!! Good wishes from Dody.
