What type of blood pressure meds worked for you to control your?

high blood pressure. I am to see my practice nurse to discuss other options as my own prescribed medication is not controlling my very high blood pressure despite a good diet and reasonable weight and exercise regime nothing seems to bring it down despite all my efforts.

I would like options so I can discuss them with the nurse tomorrow. What type of blood pressure meds worked for you to control your?
First of all Miz Lambs blood pressure is NOT way to low dear. Normal blood pressure is %26lt;120/80. BP which is lower than this is perfectly normal and healthy. Low blood pressure is only ever a problem if you are symptomatic with dizziness. The lower the BP, the lower the stroke risk. Many people make the mistake of thinking BP lower than 120/80 is unhealthy and abnormal. It isn't.

You need to see your Practise Nurse or GP who will discuss which options are better for you. It's pointless comparing medication experiences, what works for some people may not work for others. There is no 'one suits all' tablet(s). Your Doctor or Practise Nurse will decide with you which combination is best for you. Neither you give your age, current management or any other medical history.

I presume all secondary causes for hypertension have been ruled out? Such as kidney and hormone problems? Picking BP medication isn't like picking sweeties in a shop. What type of blood pressure meds worked for you to control your?
I took the popular ACE meds for a while, they did nothing positive for me, so doctor switched me to the ARB meds. They also did nothing at all. Then I tried ot quit smoking using the Chantix and my potassium as well as my blood pressure went for the moon. The fill in doctor while mine was on vacation yanked the ARB med and said to take Amlodipine.

That worked! My blood pressure came down immediately to where the doctor was happy, the cardio was happy but his NP was not! She told me to double the dosage and she wanted to add back the ACE but that is prohibited by my potassium going high that one time.

Now my blood pressure is around 110/50 all the time and I am sitting here in a snow suit with the heat on in the house! My hands and feet are always really cold now.
i take atenolol 25mg and amalodopine 25mg. i used to be on a much higher dose of 100mg atenolol but after i stopped smoking it came down to 25mg. I also exercise regularly 4-5 times a week ( 1 hour cadio) and i make sure i hit a minimum 10,000 steps a day. i also have a diet thats very low in salt and i dont eat processed foods. all of the above seems to help me keep my blood pressure and pulse rate under control. Hope it helps - i know what a worry it is with high blood pressure.
