Good luck! How can I control emotional eating? If I excersize, I start thinking about food the minute I step on eliptical?
Imagine all your food has worms or magots on it. Give your inner voice a cartoon voice and nothing something that is dramatic like it is now. You just have to sit some goals like going to the beach as a reward or on a trip that you would like or buying clothes. You are important and you need to give yourself value. How can I control emotional eating? If I excersize, I start thinking about food the minute I step on eliptical?
1.no fast food
2. no fried stuff
3. no buffet
4. eat protien--the body dosent store protien and just dumps it as waist if you dont use it
Try to focus on other events while excerisisng it maks time go faster read or watch t.v while on the eliptical. You can also instead of eating junk food eat healty fod to crush the craving
A trick I use for my elliptical machine is I recite poetry or nursery rhymes. I usually recite The House That Jack Built. It helps me keep my mind off of food and off of how many minutes I've done. It works for me.
Also, to help you not emotional eat at other times, try this trick
say HALT every time you go to the fridge. Ask yourself are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. Only eat of course if the answer is Hungry. This gets easier with time.
You might want to check out SparkPeople.com; it's a free weight loss sight, and it's been very helpful for me.
brush your teeth a lot and chew mint gum so that when you start eating it doesn't taste as good. also, bright colors make you hungry so avoid looking at those. read instead of watching TV or going on the internet. find some hobby that would take up a lot of time instead of eating because you're bored.
try brining reading material, watching tv, or listening to music while you are exercising to take your mind off of the food.
Ill tell you something that really helps a sweet tooth if you like fruit...an orange..my doctor told me that because i was LITERALLY addicted to chocolate....and it really helped lol weird isnt it? you find comfort in food, so basically you need to find comfort in something else, i personally suggest going to talk to a counselor. There is nothing wrong with that, they will point out soooo many things you dont even realize and help you get back on track. You wont be emotionally unbalanced anymore, and you'll find the difference between when your actually hungry, and when your bored....BIG DIFFERENCE...you can do it!!!!
Try and solve what's making you feel that way. I do that too, I eat mostly when I'm flustered or sad. I normally just have to try and fix what's wrong.
When you exercise, put on a good CD and walk to the beat of the music. Having a friend exercise with you will also motivate you and keep you focused. You need to find out why you do this, what triggers it? Then you will be able to recognize the signs before they hit. Another thing you can do is play tennis, volleyball, etc..a game that forces you to concentrate and take your mind off everything but the ball.
